Hemodialysis (dialysis, or Artificial Kidney) is an extracorporeal method-procedure in order to clean the blood from the useless, harmful substances from the body and to eliminate excess fluids. During hemodialysis treatment the useless substances which have been produced daily are removed from the body through special dialysis filters. Kidney patients visit every other day a dialysis clinic and are connected to a special dialysis machine for their treatment which lasts at least 4-5 hours.
